Lasso

Privacy Policy

Lasso is a menu-bar screenshot tool for Mac, made by Advent Innovation. This policy describes what the app does with your information. The short version: Lasso does not collect any, and your captures never leave your Mac unless you send them somewhere.

Effective date: September 18, 2026

What Lasso collects

Nothing. Lasso has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no crash reporting service. It makes no network requests of its own and has no server to send anything to.

Your screenshots

A capture exists in memory, on your clipboard, and in the file you choose to save. Lasso does not keep a library, a history, or a copy of anything you capture.

macOS requires Screen Recording permission before any app can read the screen. Lasso asks for it the first time you take a capture and uses it only at the moment you trigger one. It reads the screen to produce the image you asked for, and nothing else.

What stays on your Mac

Your keyboard shortcuts, the folder you last saved into, and whether freehand captures clip to the shape you drew. These settings live in the app's own sandbox container on your Mac.

Saving and sharing

Saving opens the standard macOS save panel, and Lasso can write only to the file you pick there. The share button hands your capture to the standard macOS share sheet, and whatever you choose from that sheet, such as Mail or Messages or AirDrop, takes it from there under its own privacy policy. Lasso never uploads a capture on its own.

Children

Lasso is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
